Jakarta (ANTARA News) – Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati projected economic growth in quarter I-2018 of 5.2 percent or higher than the same period last year of 5.01 percent.

“First quarter 5.2 percent,” said Sri Mulyani in a press conference on the realization of the State Budget of the first quarter-2018 in Jakarta on Monday.

Sri Mulyani said the improvement in economic performance in Q1 / 2018 seems to improve from the realization of tax revenue in this period which grew 16.21 percent without taking into account the tax amnesty.

The realization of tax revenue up to March 31, 2018 has reached Rp262, 4 trillion or 16.2 percent of the target state budget of Rp1.618, 1 trillion.

In the same period of 2017, the realization of tax revenue only recorded Rp237.9 trillion.

“Tax revenues show quite encouraging developments. This shows our economic pulse is beginning to show an increase, “said Sri Mulyani.

He is optimistic that the growth in the next quarter will be better in the first quarter of 2018, due to the support of Lebaran moment in the second quarter, the implementation of the Asian Games in the third quarter and IMF-WB Annual Meetings in the fourth quarter.

“We have the momentum to maintain that optimism, because from the side of` pure` domestic momentum is all positive, “said Sri Mulyani.

For the whole year, Sri Mulyani predicted economic growth in 2018 will be in the range of 5.22 percent to 5.41 percent.

On a separate occasion, Bank Indonesia projected the growth of I-2018 quarter at 5.11 percent in line with improving economic conditions since the beginning of the year.

The projected growth in Q1 / 2018 is still within the Bank Indonesia’s forecast for overall economic growth of 5.1 percent to 5.5 percent.

Meanwhile, the government in the APBN 2018 set an economic growth assumption of 5.4 percent.
